GEMMA GANZER, piano

Gemma Ganzer started her piano studies at the age of 6 in Barcelona. She graduated from the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona with Bachelor of Music degrees in Piano and Chamber Music. Later she was a student of acclaimed Chilean pianist Edith Fischer for four years.  She has also taken courses in chamber music at the Claude Debussy Conservatory in Paris, where she was awarded Gold medal by a unanimous jury.

As a young student she took private classes with Mª Teresa Monteys of the Marshall Academy. She also took master classes with Alicia de Larrocha on several occasions.

Gemma Ganzer has won several prizes for chamber music: First prize in the 1st Les Corts competition for musical interpretation (JIC), first prize in the 7th L'Arjau competition for musical interpretation, second prize in the 10th Castellterçol competition for chamber music, third prize in the category for chamber music in the 22nd Ciutat de Manresa prize competition for music, third prize in the category for chamber music in the 12th L'Arjau competition for musical interpretation.

She has taken part in the annual International course for piano and chamber music in Blonay (Switzerland) on several occasions, including master classes by Josep Maria Colom, Paul Badura-Skoda, Michael Davidson, Jorge Pepi-Alos and Péter Nágy and others. At the 15th International course for piano and chamber music she was chosen to perform at the Concert festival 2005 held in St-Légier, Switzerland.

Gemma Ganzer has played numerous concerts in Barcelona and in other parts of Catalonia in recent years. Performances include the following venues and events: L'Auditori in Barcelona as part of Festa de la Música; Ateneu Barcelonès within the cycle Joves & Clàssica organised by Joventuts Musicals; Caja Madrid Auditorium; Winterthur Auditorium; the Auditorium at the CCCB; La Casa Elizalde; Sala Mas i Mas; Sala Paper de Música in Capellades; Narcís Monturiol Auditorium in Figueres; at the festival Mercat de Música Viva de Vic and as part of the cycles Clàssica als Parcs and Clàssica a les Corts among others.

After being  selected by INJUVE to perform within the program Circuitos de Música de España, she held a concert at the Conde Duque Auditorium in Madrid . In addition, she has performed in The Basque Country, France and Switzerland.

Some of her students have been awarded various prizes for piano and chamber music.

Gemma Ganzer has frequently collaborated as accompanist for many musicians at various auditions and competitions. She has also been associate pianist at the ESMUC conservatory in Barcelona, and worked as a piano accompanist for the vocal students of the soprano Marta Mathéu at the Liceu conservatory of Barcelona.
